By far the town’s largest indoor event of the year takes place on Sat. 9th December when Brighouse & Rastrick Band present their hugely popular Christmas Concerts at Central Methodist Church, Brighouse. Added excitement this time will be the chance for everyone to admire the magnificent National Champion’s trophy, won to great acclaim at the Royal Albert Hall last month. The display corner is sure to be a very busy spot!

Special Guest Conductor on the day will be the band’s popular former Musical Director, David Hirst, originally from the Holme Valley but now resident in Newark.  David is delighted to be invited back to spend a day in front of his ‘old band’ and should feel totally at home in familiar surroundings.

The Matinee (2-30 p.m.) performances always have a special buzz and this year will be no exception with the return of music students from Brighouse High School who are sure to relish performing their two spots in front of a full house.

The evening performance at 7-15 p.m. purely features ‘B & R’, allowing more time to showcase the awesome talents that have helped the band close in on top spot in the World Rankings table.  The hugely attentive audiences also play a vital part and their enthusiastic participation in the ever popular Christmas carols have helped make these concerts such a major attraction over many decades. With a real family feel to the whole day in this most welcoming and festively decorated Church, the day is sure to lift the spirits of all as mid-winter approaches.
