Brighouse and Rastrick Band are pleased to announce the appointment of New Zealand cornet star Kyle Lawson to the position of Principal Cornet with immediate effect. Kyle is an international artist for Geneva Instruments and currently holds the title of 2015 cornet champion in both Australia and New Zealand.

During his formative years Kyle was mentored by the highly respected NZ cornet player Kevin Jarrett and since 2010 he has been a recipient of the Dame Adrienne Stewart Performance Bursary.

For the past four years Kyle has been a member of the prestigious New Zealand Army Band and in 2014 won the inaugural ‘New Zealand Young Brass Musician of the Year’ award.

B&R President Paul Beaumont commented: “It is an absolute pleasure to welcome Kyle Lawson, a young and enormously talented performer to this key position with B&R. On behalf of the band I would also like to express our sincere thanks to Leon Renilson who stepped in as guest principal with the band earlier in the year and has done an outstanding job”.
